Tourism
The city of Avignon was built around city walls on the left bank of the Rhône and north of the Durance. The Avignon residents inhabit the most populous agglomeration in the Vaucluse (84), making their city the capital of the department.
The city of Avignon is one of the few French-speaking cities that has protected its historic center and its city walls, allowing it to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage.
The Palace of the Popes
How can we not mention Avignon without talking about the Palace of the Popes? Indeed, the city of Avignon can boast of being internationally known, in part thanks to its magnificent Palace of the Popes; a building classified as World Heritage of Humanity.
The Jardin des Doms
The Jardin des Doms, located in the center of the city of Avignon, is an English-style garden that offers a magnificent panorama of the old town. You can see the castle of Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, the entire Rhône Valley, and Mont Ventoux.
Avignon Bridge
Everyone knows the song about the Avignon bridge, but do you know what it really looks like? First of all, it is called the Saint Bénezet bridge and was built from the 12th century. Originally, it had twenty-two arches, but now there are only four due to collapses and multiple reconstructions. It is about a fifteen-minute walk from the hotel. As for the opening hours, they vary depending on the time of year. The visit lasts about 40 minutes.
The Ochres of the Luberon
Slightly further in Provence, less than an hour from the hotel, is the Luberon Regional Natural Park. You can explore the heritage of the Earth with the Ochres of Luberon, colored paths, quarries, and ocher mines to discover on foot or by bike for the whole family. Known since ancient times, the Romans exploited ocher for local use.
Mont Ventoux or the "bald mountain" is located about thirty kilometers from our establishment. The Pont du Gard (where you can go kayaking on the "Gard or Gardon" river) is also located 30 kilometers from our hotel.
